Total Bilirubin

Total bilirubin measures the yellow pigment made when old red blood cells are broken down. The liver processes it and removes it in bile, so a higher result is read with liver enzymes and the blood count.

Conjugated Bilirubin

Conjugated bilirubin is the form already processed by the liver and ready to leave in bile. It helps distinguish bile-flow or liver patterns from changes caused by red-cell breakdown.
