What does Adjusted Calcium mean?
Adjusted calcium is the laboratory's estimate of calcium after accounting for albumin. It helps show whether an unusual total calcium result may reflect albumin rather than calcium itself.
What it shows and why it matters
Adjusted Calcium, or Albumin-Adjusted Calcium, estimates the Calcium level after accounting for Albumin, which carries much of the Calcium in blood. It can show whether an apparently high or low Total Calcium is more likely to reflect Albumin rather than a true Calcium disturbance. Laboratories use different formulas and Albumin methods, so Vector preserves the value and reference interval printed on the pathology report.
How Adjusted Calcium appears on your report
